Some Words of Wisdom for Women’s History Month

Joel 2:28-19 (NRSV) – “Then afterward
I will pour out my spirit on all flesh;
your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
your old men shall dream dreams,
and your young men shall see visions.
  Even on the male and female slaves,
in those days, I will pour out my spirit.’”

“It is easy enough to vote right and be consistently with the majority . . . but it is more often more important to be ahead of the majority and this means being willing to cut the first furrow in the ground and stand alone for a while if necessary.”
Patsy Takemoto Mink (1927 – 2012)

“When we understand love as the will to nurture our own and another’s spiritual growth, it becomes clear that we cannot claim to love if we are hurtful and abusive. Love and abuse cannot coexist. Abuse and neglect are, by definition, the opposites of nurturance and care.”
From, All about Love: New Visions, by bell hooks (1952-2021)

Galatians 3:28 (NRSV) – “There is no longer Jew or Greek, there is no longer slave or free, there is no longer male and female; for all of you are one in Christ Jesus.”
