Happy Birthday to Karen Hopkins!

On Monday both George White and Dale Edmondson emailed this article noting its connection to our commitment to a history with “all the pieces” included and to last Sunday’s discussion of Caste by Isabel Wilkerson. It is a very important piece which makes it clear that white Christianity has often been much more committed to being white than to following the Christ.

Recipes Still Needed

Sandra and I are in the process of collecting recipes for our “Zoom” Soul Food Dinner on February 28, 2020. Since we are unable to meet in person and share a meal together, we have decided to share recipes. Before you say I do not have a soul food recipe to share, we all have a dish or meal that can be called “soul food” or as I like to refer to it as “good for our soul”. That dish can evoke a soothing comfort that brings back warm memories of home, love, church, and/or a family dinner.

Sandra and I would love for you to submit a recipe or two that we can share with the congregation in a PDF booklet. I have attached a recipe template for you to use. The deadline to submit your recipes will be on February 14, 2020.
