Family,
Please keep holding Pastor Dave Robinson and the people of Grace Baptist Church, San Jose in your prayers. Below is a statement from the Evergreen Baptist Association and Grace Moderator, Dennis Glover.
From EBA – Please pray for the church and community of Grace Baptist Church in San Jose, CA. Last night, there was an act of violence at the shelter the church supports on their campus that has left two dead and three other seriously injured.
From the GBC moderator – We at Grace Baptist are deeply moved and saddened by this incident. Our hearts bleed with the dead and injured. Since this is an ongoing situation and we have not been allowed in the church yet, we do not have many details to share. We do want to thank the SJPD for their response and their diligence to secure the scene and find the perpetrator.
I do want to share:
“This is what faith is all about. Faith is risking it all. We risk knowing both the rewards and the reality that there will be problems, pain and conflict. We are called to this radical hospitality for those who need it the most. This is our Call our purpose, our mission and the way we love Jesus.
- pray for the injured guests and staff
- pray for the perpetrator
- pray for those guests that were traumatized by the violence
- pray for our congregation, especially those that will be deeply effected
- my deepest gratitude to Phil and the staff of Grace Solutions for their service and dedication”
Incidents like this is why we do the work we do. As Matthew 25:35-37. “For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you gave me clothing, I was sick and you took care of me, I was in prison and you visited me.”
Now my personal rant. This incident highlights the failings of society, we do not invest in Mental Health Care, We would rather put broken people in prison than build strong children. We would rather invest in millionaires and billionaires rather in our education system.
As Frederick Douglas said, “It is easier to build strong children than repair broken men”
