When the Long-Range Planning Committee developed our “provocative proposals” for the church’s future, I encouraged us to name evangelism as one such proposal. The committee agreed, and so we invited the congregation to reclaim this word. It doesn’t have to mean a pushy or judgmental message; after all, its literal meaning is “good news!” We do believe that our life together in Christ is good, beautiful, and joy-filled. If we want more people to discover Lakeshore, we have to let them know what this community means to us.
On behalf of the Outreach and Membership Department, I invite you to consider sharing your Lakeshore “testimony” online in two quick and easy ways. Both entail writing short reviews – one at Google and the other on Facebook. The more reviews an organization has at these sites, the more likely it will appear in searches and on news feeds.
On Google: Type “Lakeshore Avenue Baptist Church” into the search engine and press enter. An information box will appear on the right-hand side of the page. Click on the “Google reviews” link and in the pop-up window click on the button at the top right that says “Write your review.”
On Facebook: Go to the “Lakeshore Avenue Baptist Church – Oakland” page (https://www.facebook.com/LABCOAK/). Click on the “Reviews” button on the menu just below the profile picture. The next page will have a box on the left with the question “Do you recommend LABC?”
Click on yes and write your review in the pop-up window.
