We join with the people of Alameda County, particularly those who live in the cities of Alameda and Oakland, in mourning the death of Alameda County Supervisor Wilma Chan. She was an able, committed and caring public servant. Her advocacy for public health, affordable housing, quality public education, human rights, the well being of minorities and the security of seniors was unfailing.
Please hold her family, her staff and her colleagues in your love and in your prayers.
God of All, For the life and public service of Supervisor Wilma Chan we offer our thanks. In our community there are many who have homes, jobs and hope because of her wisdom and vision. Our hearts go out to those who knew her best, those who feel her loss most personally and those who are left to wonder who they will turn to when great need assails them. Amen.
