Lakeshore Family,

Thank you to all who joined in on Zoom last Sunday afternoon at 2pm, for our first hymn writing class led by Rev. Carolyn Winfrey Gillette. We had a great mix of participants, including youngest songwriter of the day, Miss Emma Schelin. It is not too late to join us as we learn together! We have a recording of the class available, if you missed the class. Ifvyou would like to see it, please contact me and I will be happy to send you the link and password to the recording.

For our next class this month, we will have a class session with Rev. Daniel Damon, Wednesday evening, September 23rd at 6pm. We will be focusing on short songs and we have one of Dan’s songs to listen to before our class. Short songs allow you to be very focused, and say what you want to say in just a few words. But a few words can still have great impact whether in a congregational worship service or in our private devotions.

Please click to listen to Dan’s song, “Let Justice Roll Down

If you have a chance, please read and print. some of the lyrics to a few more of Dan’s short songs in the attachment.

Dan will be both sharing examples of his own social and/or biblical justice songs, as well as assisting us with music, for our song lyrics, that he agrees are ready to have music added.

One question for you to consider. Please respond as soon as possible if you need to have handouts for either Carolyn’s or Dan’s classes printed and mailed to you. We realize that not everyone has access to a printer to print out the song lyrics or homework assignments for these classes. If you need printed copies sent to you, please let me know as soon as possible, so we can get them in the mail to you. Thank you all for your willingness to join in this learning experience, whether you choose to write or listen, or a little of both. As Emma reminds us, you don’t have to have a lot of writing experience to take part in the class!
