Family,

The LABC Youth Group meets on Zoom on the 1st and 3rd Monday evenings of the month. The standard program consists of Jesus P. leading an icebreaker, I lead a Bible Study and then Pastor Carolyn and Sheila S. lead a prayer time.

Throughout the fall we have been talking about social media, body image and the stress the young people deal with every day. We have looked at Bible verses that give some guidance in regard to dealing with these demanding realities.

This week we watched a PBS News report about the mental health challenges that college students and other young people face and read from Psalm 40 which talks about God hearing our cries, lifting us up from a miry bog and setting our feet on a rock.

We had a good discusion about the stresses our youth face – school, college applications, games, performances and concern for the well-being of family members and friends came up frequently in the conversation.

I was reminded of the importance of being mindful of our young people. They bring much to our life together while also carrying heavy loads. Please lift a prayer for them today.

Pastor Jim

P.S. While thinking of young people – Congratulations to Connie Hector’s granddaughter and her Skyline HS volleyball teammates who have reached the championship game of the Northern California Division 5 tournament. A win will send them to Orange County to play the Southern California champions for the state title.

The LABC Youth will gather at church this Saturday at 10:00 to make 100 sandwiches for City Team Ministries.

Today on LABC Zoom – Prayer and Bible Study at 10:30 and LABC Budget Committee at 7:00.
