A warm and windy week awaits us in the Bay Area. We pray for safety as fire season continues. We pray for those who stand ready to respond.

November 3rd, Election Day draws near. We pray wisdom for those who will be casting their ballots, respect for those who work at the polls, peace for all who wait with bated breath.

Today is the 40th Anniversary of the ordination of the Reverend David Robinson. We salute him for his steadfast concern for the well-being of those who live on life’s margins.

LABC Reads meets this Saturday to discuss “Where The Crawdads Sing” by Delia Owens. It is a beautiful and moving story. You still have time read it and join us. I think you will be glad you did.

For the youngest members of our family a different and subdued Halloween celebration awaits, another unwelcome adjustment in a year of unwelcome adjustments. Hold a good thought for children and their families.

Next Sunday, November 1st, is a time change Sunday. Set your clocks back an hour when you go to bed on Saturday night. Yes, an extra hour of sleep may be welcome but not everyone is all that excited about adding an hour to 2020.

In worship next Sunday we will honor “All Saints Sunday.” A deep appreciation for our ancestors, for the faith of our mothers and fathers, serves us, and them, well.

Pastor Jim
