Update, March 29, 2021 (Monday of Holy Week)
Family,
Monday greetings. I trust that a most meaningful Holy Week awaits us. There are services and studies each day of the week, beginning tonight with the LABC Youth Group. I do trust that you will be able to come to the church and during one of the three hours we have scheduled for drive-up/walk-up communion: Maundy Thursday 6:00-7:00 pm, Good Friday 12:00-1:00 pm and 6:00-7:00 pm.
The American Baptist Churches USA sent the following information from the FEMA to all member congregations last week. It is pertains to federal aid for COVID-19 related funeral expenses, a real need for many families.
This is the prayer I began the Pastoral Prayer with yesterday. It was written by Kevin Volrath of Churches for Middle East Peace.
God of Peace, we pray for peace in Jerusalem. We pray for open access to holy sites for all who call them holy. We pray for the safety of Jerusalem from all attacks. Bless its residents: in the Christian, Armenian, Jewish, and Muslim quarters of the Old City; in East and West Jerusalem; its former and its future inhabitants. Bless Christ at the Checkpoint’s conference this summer: may it call many to account and be an effective voice for justice. Bless all of the CMEP community as we remember your joyful, triumphal entry into the City of Peace. Shaalu shilom Yerushalayim yishilayu ohavayikhi (Pray for the peace of Jerusalem; may those who love you be secure). With Jesus we pray, amen.
We pray peace for all the Jerusalem’s, all the violence torn and fear riddled communities, of the world.
Pastor Jim
