A Prayer from friend and colleague Andrew Daugherty, Pastor of the Pine Street Baptist Church in Boulder, Colorado.

We keep deep in our hearts of prayer all impacted today by the (still unfolding) sad and tragic events at King Soopers grocery store in south Boulder. For all first responders and officers and families and individuals inside the grocery store. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayers.

God of suffering love, we commend to your care all being impacted this hour by the tragedy unfolding in our community. Be with the victims in their agony and their fear. Come close to us and be near to us in the random act of violence at this vile and inhumane act. Comfort all who grieve. Bring the living to safety. Stay with us all this day, dear Lord, and this night, and all the difficult and sad days ahead. We pray through Christ our Lord, who endured so much for us, and endures with us, still. Amen.

 White Supremacy & the Bible

The Bible has been used throughout the centuries to create, support, and sustain the institutions of white supremacy, racism, and slavery as well as the colonization of the world by euro-centric powers. This course will survey the history of biblical interpretation that undergirds the movements mentioned above as a means of stimulating new ways of thinking about and interpreting the Bible for a contemporary inter-cultural and inclusive society. The course will meet once a week on Tuesday evenings 6:00 to 8:00 pm for 6 sessions June 22, 29, July 6, 13, 20, 27. All class sessions will be held via Zoom. Students taking the course for credit will be required to submit one final paper by September 7, 2021. Auditors welcome!
