Update, January 4, 2022
Family,
A busy and, I trust, a good Sunday awaits us on January 9th.
The day will begin at 8:30 our Annual Leadership Gathering. This very important gathering will be Zoom only this year. Our Departments and Committees will meet to choose a chairperson and other representatives as designated by the church constitution. If your Department or Committee has not met to discuss and choose leadership or put together a calander for the upcoming year, including meeting dates and times, we invite you to take this opportunity to meet. We will be using the breakout room feature of Zoom. Pastor Carolyn emailed the needed documents on Monday. Please confirm receipt with her.
We will have a guest preacher on Sunday, the Reverend Dan Hamil of the Baptist Joint Committee for Religious Liberty. I trust that we will have a good turnout to greet him. He is a good friend and respected colleague of mine. His sermon on Sunday, the day on which we remember the baptism of Jesus, will be “Water, Words and Wonder – Let it Flow.”
Bible Study will follow worship as will De-Decoorating of the Sanctuary, Narthex and Family Room. It is time to put the beautiful Advent/Christmas decorations for another year. Your assistance with this task will be appreciated. Contact Paige if you have any questions.
I was interviewed by KTVU this past Sunday evening regarding Ceasefire in light of the tragically high number of homicides in Oakland in 2021.
Pastor Allison with lead a Public Witness themed Bible Study tonight at 6:00 and tomorrow morning at 10:30.
Peace,
Pastor Jim
