Hi Pr Jim,
This is my Christmas message which your welcome to share with the labc congregation.

Why do we say “merry” instead of “happy” Christmas?

“The answer is based on what the language represents: “happy” is a feeling, whereas “merry” is a behaviour.”

I like that! because despite all the emotions and beliefs about Christmas … the saying is based on behaviour!

Personally, being brought up in both a Christ believing and Moslem believing household, it was not easy for me to believe the Christmas story about the birth of Christ, Son of God, Saviour, Redeemer, Great Shepherd, Teacher … and since the death of my mum 21 years ago (2001), having this Christian faith, despite my feelings of sadness because I miss her so much and actually my dad too who passed away on 1992 while I was just 6years old, I know that one day I will see them again as the bible says. I choose to believe (behaviour) despite what I feel at times (sad).

May all my family and friends, regardless of believing the gospel story or not, have a wonderful and relaxing day, I love you my Lakeshore Baptist church family.

Merry Christmas from the Cherie Claire Orphanage Soccer Team
