Support the HOME Act to end unjust double punishment of immigrants
Lakeshore has been working for a few years now to pass legislation in California to end the unjust practice of transferring immigrants who have earned release from prison or jail directly into ICE detention centers. These transfers amount to double punishment of people simply because they were born outside of our country. They are also the main way ICE detention centers, run by for-profit companies who are notorious for inhumane conditions, are populated. The HOME Act (AB1306) would end this practice, and you can take action to help ensure this legislation becomes law!
Below are simple ways you can email Governor Newsom and your State Senator to support the HOME Act. You can learn more about the HOME Act at bit.ly/HOMEACTCA. If you would like to join me in Sacramento on August 30 to lobby for the HOME Act, let me know!
Thank you for taking action to end ICE transfers!
