Dear LABC,
My mind is with my Beloved and her brothers this morning. Their father (my father-in-law), Lyle F. Hathway,  passed away in Vancouver, WA yesterday just weeks after being diagnosed with inoperable cancer. Lyle was beloved by his children and especially his grand-children. Though his great-grandchildren were just getting to know him. “Papa Lyle” will always occupy a special place in the hearts of all.
My mind is also with the “Dreamers,” the young people who came to the United States without documentation and were eligible under DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) to receive a renewable two-year period of deferred action from deportation and eligibility for a work permit. The President has decided to end this program throwing their lives into turmoil. Let us urge Congress to  to amend the law to help these young people.
This Sunday is Christian Formation Sunday. Our lectionary text is Matthew 18: 15-20. In regard to this text scholar Jin S. Kim notes, “In this passage, Jesus seems to assume that there will be conflict among his followers. What makes us Christian is not whether or not we fight, disagree or wound one another, but how we go about addressing and resolving those issues.”
Saturday is our All Church Work Day. Attached is a project list for the day.
