September 12, 2017
Dear LABC,
Each Monday as I sit at my desk and do a mental review of the ministry of our congregation in the week gone by I am reminded that, as followers of Jesus Christ, we are making a difference in the world. We do so through prophetic action, charitable work, caring presence, spiritual practice, educational endeavor and joyous gathering. This Monday is no different. I am grateful.
September 11 is a day of remembering in our nation. We honor the lives lost and the courageous service rendered sixteen years ago. It is also a day to remember that there is much enmity in the human race and to pray: O God, the Parent of all, whose Son commanded us to love our enemies; lead them and us from prejudice to truth; deliver them and us from hatred, cruelty and revenge; and in your good time enable us all to stand reconciled before you; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. (Book of Common Prayer)
I look forward to seeing you all at Homecoming Worship (John Giles will preach) and the Homecoming Luncheon (Long Range Plan presented) this Sunday. Between now and then Karen and I will help Kristen, David and boys move to Oregon. Thank you for all the love you have shown them as they prepare for this big transition.
