Opportunities to Engage in Public Witness
Dear Lakeshore,
In response to our Healing Justice conversations, the ongoing work of rethinking public safety in Oakland, and creating communities that care for one another, I encourage you to attend Refund, Restore & Reimagine, an opportunity to hear from Asian and Black faith leaders in Oakland, and Councilmembers Nikki Bas (D2) and Carol Fife (D3) about their vision for public safety and a just recovery.
Co-hosted by Interfaith Movement for Human Integrity, this virtual event will take place Monday, April 19 at 5 p.m. IM4HI writes, “It will be an opportunity to hear from faith leaders from the Asian and Black communities, both impacted by violence and economic hardship. We also want to expose folks to the visionary leadership of CMs Bas and Fife, that often doesn’t get heard. We’ll be launching a faith sign-on letter to the Mayor about a moral framework for the budget priorities.”

Finally, I have been in touch with an asylum seeker who is available to wash cars. He even does house visits. You supply the car and the water, and he will take care of the rest. He washed my car last week and it is beautiful! I suggest a $20 donation for an exterior wash. If you supply a vacuum, he can clean the interior as well (he has been fully vaccinated). I suggest a $40 donation for both exterior and interior. Please let me know (allison@labcoakland.org) if you are interested in his services.
Peace,
Pastor Allison
