Good Morning Family,

My heart is still full from Graduation Sunday! Let’s keep listening and learning and so fulfill our identity as disciples (students) of the Christ. Here are some snippets as we head into the last official week of spring.

From Sheila Sims

Did you know
* That nearly one in five Oakland seniors survive on an annual income at or below $11,670.
* That more than one quarter of all children in Oakland live in households with annual incomes under $23,000, the highest poverty rate in the Bay Area.
* That Oakland has a homeless population of 4,071 people.

From Pastor Steve Wells – South Main Baptist Church, Houston, Texas “Racism is the reversal of the revelation of God. Racism is not perfect love casting out fear, it is perfect fear casting out love.”

From my Daily Bible Reading Post of June 14th

Romans 12:2 Do not conform yourselves to the standards of this world, but let God transform you inwardly by a complete change of your mind. Then you will be able to know the will of God—what is good and is pleasing to God and is perfect.

Can you feel some compassion for those labeled other and inferior, unworthy, less than fully human? Surely we feel something – shame, guilt, regret, grief, anger, compassion, the breaking of hearts, but are we moved to do something?
