Jim Hopkins

May 27, 2014

Dear Lakeshore,
Though it is not yet officially summer, the unofficial beginning of summer, Memorial Day, is past and the traditional celebration of the beginning of summer at LABC, The Anne Anderson Memorial Hunger Walk, takes place this Sunday following worship. I hope many of you are planning to join my grandsons, Dash and Henry, and the extended Hopkins family, for the stroll around the lake. Many first time walkers are needed this year as two of the families I associate with the Hunger Walk, the Sims and the Nesbitts, will be at the graduation ceremonies of Bishop O’Dowd High School as Rachael and Channing are graduating!
Our preacher this Sunday will be our Seminarian in Residence, Sydney Webster. Sydney is preaching as part of the “What Communion Means to Me” series that Pastor Tanner inaugurated so eloquently in May. Sydney’s text will be Luke 7: 36-50, the story of a sinful woman forgiven.
I need to call the Alameda County Courthouse in Hayward in a few minutes to see if I need to report to jury duty on Tuesday afternoon so let me again say see you Sunday and devote my attention to the prayer list.
Peace,
Jim H.
