Dear Lakeshore,
Pastor Allison here, filling in for Jim while he is taking care of Karen, undergoing shoulder surgery.
As we continue journeying through Lent, we will continue with the sermon series “If It Doesn’t Challenge You, It Doesn’t Change You.” This Sunday we will look at Luke 12: 4-12 and what it means “to acknowledge Jesus before others.” While Baptists are not mandated to adhere to specific confessions of faith, that doesn’t mean we are off the hook for taking Jesus’ admonition to heart. What does it mean, then, for Baptists to make a commitment to confession?
As we continue journeying through Women’s History Month, we will acknowledge the acheivements of one of our own, Dr. Jewelle Taylor-Gibbs, by presenting her with a proclaimation from Congresswoman Barbara Lee’s office.
Following worship, we will continue our Forum series on “Living Well, Dying Well.” The Reverend Dr. Peter Yuichi-Clark, Director of Pastoral Care at UCSF and Professor of Pastoral Care at ABSW, will return to discuss medical considerations connected to preparing for a good death, including completing a Medical Healthcare Directive. The Adult Bible Class and the Grief and Loss Group will also meet following worship.
