Dear Lakeshore,
Our Journey through Lent nears its completion this Sunday as we celebrate Palm Sunday with a service that includes all but focuses on the worship needs of our children and their families. There will be a grand parade into the Sanctuary, there will be much music and we will consider a letter to God, and sent by her father to church leaders, by a six-year-old Scottish girl named Lulu. The letter read: “To, God, How did you get invented?”
Many of the recipients of the letter simply ignored it but Rowan Williams the Archbishop of Canterbury replied. His letter began “Dear Lulu, Your dad has sent on your letter and asked if I have any answers. It’s a difficult one! But I think God might reply a bit like this – Dear Lulu – Nobody invented me – buts lots of people discovered me and were quite surprised …” Pastor Allison and I will talk with the kids about where they discover God and how we all can discover God in the life of Jesus, including Palm Sunday, Good Friday and Easter.
