March 10, 2015

As part of her March 8 sermon, “A Commitment to Confession,” Pastor Tanner shared the following confession of faith and urged each of us to think about writing our own faith confessions.

Allison’s Confession of Faith

I believe in God the Creator – holy, good, and worthy of our worship,
who crafted humans in the divine image of God,
unique and beloved creatures called to care for all of creation
and co-create the reign of God here on earth.
I believe in Jesus the Christ, the Revealer of God’s love and forgiveness
who teaches inclusion, examples sacrifice, and reveals the triumphant power of love,
whose life, death and resurrection unite us with God.
I believe in God the Spirit, who lives within us and all around us,
continually urging us to open ourselves to God’s presence in our midst
comforting us in times of trouble and stirring us to bring change to our troubled world.
I believe in the People of God, God’s representatives here on earth
who are to be emissaries of God’s love, who are to embody justice and mercy
who are to practice forgiveness, and are to work out our salvation in community.
I believe in Grace,
God-infused and Jesus-embodied, shared with the world through God’s Spirit,
offered freely and embraced by the People of God,
who proclaim Grace and practice Grace in their communities
