Lent & Advent Midweek Message

Lenten Reflection

Allison Tanner

April 11, 2019

Lent invites us to pray:

  • to pray for our personal struggles and suffering
  • to pray for our community and the suffering all around us
  • to pray to the God of hope and healing, deliverance and redemption, restoration and liberation, trusting God to walk with us, work with us, and continue to provide salvation.

In this spirit, Sr. Roxanne Jones offers this beautiful Lenten Prayer and lyrics to a song she wrote – a prayer that is both personal and communal, sharing her love for her community suffering from lack of affordable housing.

Oh, My Lord, Please Help; This is a Housing Crisis Emergency.

Oh, My Lord, please help; this is a housing crisis emergency.

Oh, My Lord, please help them; this is a housing crisis emergency.

Oh, My Lord, please help the young people; this is a housing crisis emergency.

Oh, My Lord, please help the grandmas and the grandpas; this is a housing crisis emergency.

Oh, My Lord, please help the mothers and fathers; this is a housing crisis emergency.

Oh, My Lord, please help; this is a housing crisis emergency.

Oh, My Lord, please help the police officers; this is a housing crisis emergency.

Oh, My Lord, please help the pastors; this is a housing crisis emergency.

Oh, My Lord, please help the poor; this is a housing crisis emergency.

Oh, My Lord, please help those on Section 8; this is a housing crisis emergency.

Oh, My Lord, PLEASE; this is a housing crisis emergency.

Oh, My Lord, please help; this is a housing crisis emergency.

Oh, My Lord, please help the homeless; this is a housing crisis emergency.

Oh, My Lord, please help me; this is a housing crisis emergency.

Oh, My Lord, please help Sr. Roxanne Rocksteady Jones; this is a housing crisis emergency.

I pray and ask, would you please kindly build a home for me.
