LABC Update – November 14, 2023

Family,

This coming Sunday I will be quoting from “Grateful: The Subversive Practice of Giving Thanks” by Diana Butler Bass. One of the practices of giving thanks she lifts up is a “prayerful evening review of the day, a practice called examen (Latin, “examination”). It involves five simple steps and centers on gratefulness:

1. Become aware of God’s presence.
2. Review the day with gratitude.
3. Pay attention to your emotions.
4. Choose one feature of the day and pray from it.
5. Look toward tomorrow.
