LABC Update – May 4, 2022
Mental Health Awareness Month
May is mental health awareness month. What are you doing to prioritize your mental health? I see so many people struggling- young people, my peers, and folks my parents age. We have all been through a lot these past few years, some more than others, but it has been pretty categorically rough. There is so much more to folks than what we sometimes see, and so I ask that we treat each other kindly and gently knowing that we don’t always know what people are holding on to and that prioritizing our mental health is absolutely necessary and just as important as our physical health. If you are struggling, know that you are not alone. Reach out! Better days are ahead.💓 Also, if you are a parent, I encourage you to talk to your kids about the importance of taking care of their mental health so we can end stigma around it and make space for kids that are struggling to get the help they need. (From Pamela Erikson – Lakeshore Neighborhood Leader)
Pastor Allison will lead Public Witness Bible Study this morning at 10:30. We will read from Archbishop John Wester’s powerful letter Living in the Light of Christ’s Peace: A Conversation Toward Nuclear Disarmament and discuss what it means to be peace-makers in this moment.
