This Sunday: Christmas Memories and Traditions

This Sunday at LABC we will all have an opportunity to participate in a celebration of Christmas memories and traditions. Various members of the congregation will be sharing memories of Christmas or sharing traditions from their various cultural backgrounds. Our children will be helping lead in the singing and share with us traditions from various countries as well as presenting the Christmas story from the gospel of Luke. We look forward to sharing in this time of Advent as we move closer to Christmas day.

Reminder: Be Kind to One Another

(Galatians 6:9-10 (NRSVUE): “So let us not grow weary in doing what is right, for we will reap at harvest time, if we do not give up. 10 So then, whenever we have an opportunity, let us work for the good of all and especially for those of the family of faith.”)

Last Sunday, thanks to the leadership of Minster Sandra Lee, we held our Blue Christmas worship (and our thanks to all who attended and participated – George Harper, Justin McCoy, Julian Nesbitt, Alean Saunders-Coffey). This was a time of remembrance that came out of the Grief and Loss ministry which was started by Alean Saunders-Coffey and Jeanne Robinson. There are those in our congregation for whom Christmas, with all its time of memories of family celebrations, may also be a time of remembering those who have passed on. This can be an especially troubling time for those who have lost loved ones close to Christmas. However, whenever the loss occurred, the place is still empty, and the memories are close to our hearts. Let us remember those in our church family for whom the holidays are a time of lament and joy. (Psalm 13:5-6)
