LABC MIDWEEK MESSAGE – SEPTEMBER 24, 2025
OUR JOURNEY TOGETHER
Over the last two Sundays, we have heard sermons on texts from Paul’s letter to the church at Philippi. We have been assured that our work of ministry continues, based on Philippians 1:6: “ I am confident of this, that the one who began a good work in you will continue to complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.” We have much to look forward to as we continue our ministry together in the coming days. Change is not easy and can even be unsettling. However, we should look at this time as an opportunity to assess where we are and keep our eyes open for the new opportunities before us. (“I am about to do a new thing; now it springs forth; do you not perceive it?” Isaiah 43:19, NRSVUE)
HARVEST FESTIVAL
The LABC Harvest Festival and Halloween Parade is scheduled to take place on Saturday, October 18, from 10:00 am – 12:00 noon. We invite one and all to come and have a great time. However, for this event to happen we will need the help of many hands and hearts. We will need your help in the following areas:
Set up canopies and tables: 9:00 am – 10:00 am
Refreshment Table help: 9:00 am – Noon
Craft tables 9:00 am – 12:00 pm (any time in here is great)
Clean up 12:00 pm – 1:30 pm (this goes quickly with lots of help)
We need un-iced cupcakes (these can be dropped off at the church)
This community event is a fun time for children and adults alike. Adults and children are invited to come in costume. Keep an eye out for updates in the October midweek messages. (If it rains, we will meet that day in Barnett Hall)
Contact Pastor Carolyn or Ms. Yvonne if you would like to help in any way.
QUARTERLY BUSINESS MEETING
The quarterly business meeting will take place on October 5 after worship. We will meet in the family room and it will take place over the church ZOOM account. As part of the meeting, we will vote on whether to call Rev. Dr. Donald Ng as our Interim Senior Minister (Rev. Ng will preach this coming Sunday, September 28)
JOIN US TODAY FOR BIBLE STUDY AND PRAYER
We will meet over the church ZOOM at 10:30 am. We conclude our hymn story study today. Next week we begin a study of the parables of Jesus.
