Just a Few Words
“Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.” (Matthew 5:4)
Part of our seminary/ministry training is learning to walk with people through difficult times in life. When those difficulties are our own, these lessons take on a whole different meaning. It is interesting what can trigger the memory of a loved one. For any of us who experience grief and loss, we learn that sometimes what is needed are few words and more presence.
Interim (Clarissa Scott Delaney)
The night was made for rest and sleep,
For winds that softly sigh;
It was not made for grief and tears;
So then why do I cry?
The wind that blows through leafy trees
Is soft and warm and sweet;
For me the night is a gracious cloak
To hide my soul’s defeat.
Just one dark hour of shaken depths,
Of bitter black despair—
Another day will find me brave,
And not afraid to dare.
May all those who grieve find comfort hope in the presence of the Spirit and with loving, caring, family and friends.
