“So let us not grow weary in doing what is right, for we will reap at harvest time, if we do not give up. So then, whenever we have an opportunity, let us work for the good of all, and especially for those of the family of faith.”
Galatians 6:9-10
There is no way in my wildest imagination would I have dreamed up a scenario in which we all find ourselves at this point in time. The only thing that is happening that was planned is my retirement from ABSW on June 30. Other than that…
This has been a time of growth for all of us on so many fronts. It has called us to become more technologically savvy but it has also shown us the importance of our being together. Someone remarked this week that sometimes we are with members of our church family more often than our family “family.” It is not only our Sunday worship but midweek bible studies as well as rehearsals for choir or bells or any other meetings that may take place in a small group setting. This moved me to thinking about the work environment – five days a week, seven to eight hours a day. Now I understand the sense of mourning I felt as I began packing up my office for the next person.
It is not always easy to keep things going but we will continue to try and present experiences that remind us that we are a loving, worshipping, caring community. We are working on, hopefully, being able to present a virtual Vacation Bible Camp experience for our families (see below). In the meantime, please continue to find community within the online worship and educational offerings.
Growing Together in Christ,
