Lent, the Christian season spanning Ash Wednesday (Feb. 14) to Easter (April 1), invites us to reflect on what it means to be a follower of Jesus. Lent provides space for us to be attentive to God’s Spirit and where God may be leading us to more fully embrace what we believe and apply it to what is taking place in our lives.
Every year Lakeshore offers devotion booklets for the congregation to read and reflect upon during Lent.* This year, in addition to these devotions, we would like to provide an opportunity for people to connect with others as they reflect, to go deeper in their reflections, and to provide a platform for people to share their Lenten journey. We’ve chosen the medium of email, through our Midweek Message database, in the hopes of connecting the broader Lakeshore community in this process.
If you are not already signed up to receive our Midweek Message, I encourage you to do so. Through this email outlet, you will receive additional reflections throughout the Lenten season, as well as an opportunity to respond to these reflections and participate in a communal conversation about where God is leading us in these days. There is information in this Transmitter regarding how to sign up for the Midweek Message – or if you prefer, simply give your email address to me and I will help you sign up.
Lent provides an important space for us to cultivate our skills to better listen to the voice of God in our midst. I do hope you will join the Lakeshore community in reflection during Lent – either through our daily devotional, receiving Lenten reflections by email, or joining in our on-line conversations.
Lenten blessings,
Allison
