Dear Lakeshore,
I hope many of you can join me May 9 for this year’s Interfaith4Palestine walk in public witness to call for an end to military cargo shipments from Oakland to Israel. The pilgrimage takes place on Mother’s Day weekend, in recognition of the original goal of Mother’s Day to work for a world where no mother should have to lose a child to war.
As our country continues to fuel and fund war, let us join together in prayer and action, embodying our shared conviction that every human life is sacred, and that peace with justice cannot be built through militarism. We will walk in solidarity with the Oakland People’s Arms Embargo to proclaim: Divest from war. Invest in life.
The full pilgrimage is 12 miles from Oakland City Hall to the Oakland airport. It is broken up into 5 legs so people can walk anywhere from 1-12 miles, depending on which portions they want to participate in. It is my hope to walk the full pilgrimage this year, so I will join you on whatever leg(s) you choose to walk.
This pilgrimage grows out of the global Gaza Ceasefire Pilgrimages of 2024 and the Right of Return Pilgrimage in 2025. In this third year, we renew our collective call for an immediate arms embargo—locally and nationally.

In hope, prayer, and commitment to action for an end to war,
