Healing Justice Lenten Series

Healing Justice
March 10, 17 and 24 at 7:30 p.m.
Join us for this three part Lenten series exploring the harms of the criminal justice system and re-imagining what healing justice could look like.
With growing calls to Defund the Police and Re-Fund the Community, in our age of mass incarceration which has been dubbed the New Jim Crow, and with great concern for the increasing criminalization of migrants, immigrants and refugees, Lakeshore’s Sanctuary Working Group invites you to join us as we reconsider what is wrong with our criminal justice system and what restorative justice could look like.
Join this series as a Lenten practice of communal repentance, reflection and renewal – inviting God’s healing and life-giving Spirit to enter into places filled with death, devastation and dehumanization. Listen for how God is already at work offering healing, hope and a vision for what restorative justice could look like.
More about the film:
Healing Justice, explores the causes and consequences of the current North American justice system and its effect on marginalized communities. The film walks back through the history of violence that has led to our current system, bringing into focus the histories of trauma – on a personal, interpersonal, community, and generational level.
This powerful documentary addresses the school-to-prison pipeline, the need for comprehensive criminal justice reform, and the importance of healing and restorative practices.
I hope you can join us for these important discussions.
