Bathing the East Bay Hills in warm light
Neighbors are still sleeping in the quiet streets
Only the noise of the sanitation truck breaking the silence.

Senior residents awaken slowly, some fretfully
Familiar feelings of anxiety float to consciousness
Is today the day when we will hear bad news?
Will the virus finally invade our lakeside home?

Spring suddenly arrives with the promise of renewal
Flowers blooming, birds singing, people jogging again
Familiar routines begin to emerge up town and downtown
Nature’s blessings slowly heal our wounded spirits.
