1O sing to the Lord a new song;
Psalm 96:1-2 (NRSV)
sing to the Lord, all the earth.
2Sing to the Lord, bless his name;
tell of his salvation from day to day.
“It’s a new dawn/It’s a new day/It’s a new life for me/And I’m feeling good.” At the moment of writing this, these words (this song) express what is going on in my heart and head. After a few weeks away, I was able to spend some time on Christmas Eve with my granddaughters. Yes, my daughter and son-in-law were there, too. It is a joy to see each of them growing into their own personalities. All are part of the same family, and yet each unique and gifted in their own way.
As I think about our Lakeshore family, we too bring our diverse gifts and talents together to continue ministry, teaching, outreach, and fellowship in these times. We have already seen this illustrated with more people participating in worship with original prayers, litanies, and songs. My thanks to all of you who wrote an Advent Devotional – the voices of our own church family (and friends) reflecting on the season! The new year brings with it new opportunities. We have had a chance to try new things and consider what worked, what needs to be adjusted, and what may have to come later. One of the lessons of the past year: we have learned that we continue to be church; people called of God for the work of ministry.
We come into 2021 with expanded Bible study and prayer opportunities. Our outreach is even more extensive because of the ability of remote access. Your participation, gifts, talents, and uniqueness are needed as we continue to do the work that God has planted LABC to do. Thank you for making 2020 a year in which all good things continued to happen as we look forward to working together in 2021.
Growing Together in Christ,
Pastor Carolyn
