Public Witness Forum, January 2 – In January, we will be joined by international Lakeshore member Brian Byamukama. Brian is currently liv-ing in Nairobi, where he is closer to his family, and continues to support the orphanage he founded in his homeland of Uganda. Doreen, his wife, continues to lead this vital ministry. Bethany Baptist Orphanage is one of the partner ministries supported by Lakeshore’s Social Concerns’ funds. Brian will join us by Zoom to share an update on his life and ministry. The Forum will take place both in person (in the Sanctuary following worship) and on my personal Zoom account – the link will be in the January 2nd Lakeshore email.
Public Witness Bible Study, January 4 and 5 – On many occasions of great transition in the Bible God offers these words, “Behold, I am doing a new thing.” As we continue to live in chaotic times of transition, we will look at this promise and how it applies to our reality. May these words uttered by prophets and apostles and visionaries guide us as we face a new year of ongoing challenges and opportunities – a new year in which we can bear witness to the work of God in our midst.
Ongoing Public Witness Opportunities – If you would like to receive direct up-dates from me on opportunities to engage in immigration justice advocacy, solidarity with our Palestinian kindred, learn about the harms of Christian Zionism or engaging in Public Witness in and for Oakland in the year ahead, please reach out to me directly.
May God bless our ongoing efforts to engage in public witness together.
Peace,
Pastor Allison
