December 3, 2020
“Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, 21to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen.”
Ephesians 3:20-22, NASB
This has been one of those years that stories will be told about for decades to come. People my age who grew up in Chicago remember the blizzard of 1967. When the CTA buses stop running the weather really is bad. Like that infamous weather year, so most of us will carry 2020 into our futures.
However, even with all the challenges, or maybe because of them, people have been motivated to do above and beyond. For Lakeshore, ministry has continued to happen in various arenas. The regular Bible study times have continued but we have offered additional times for people to gather and connect. Even in the midst of uncertainty, we continue to plan for the coming year. This is one of the reasons the Time and Talent survey is important. As we begin to plan on meeting together in person in the future, we need to know what ministries we have planted during this time might grow. There are additional people involved in Bible studies and we are just beginning to reach out to provide Bible study opportunities for our children.
God has given gifts to each of us so that together we can fulfill the ministry opportunities placed in our hands. But each of us is needed for ministry to take place. So again, I ask you to fill out the survey if you have not done so and send it to the church office.
May we each move forward in faith and hope as the New Year approaches taking hold of the promise of scripture,
“The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases, his mercies never come to an end; 23they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”
Lamentations 3:22-23, NRSV
