Intergenerational. Engaging. Meaningful. These are words that aptly describe opportunities for Christian Formation available this summer. Here are some ways to immerse yourself in a weekend or a weeklong experience that allows you to open yourself to God in new ways:
Vacation Bible Camp (July 10-14) – Not just for kids, Vacation Bible Camp offers a way to embrace core Biblical truths that come to life in profound ways. Whether you’re a Station Leader teaching the message in creative and joyful ways, an assistant who helps out as needed, a volunteer who helps with food, decorations, set up or clean up, or you simply show up for VBC Sunday to hear how God has been at work through the week, Vacation Bible Camp offers a way for generations to come together, play together, grow together and claim the promises of God together – in new and significant ways.
All Church Retreat (July 21-23) – Join your church family for a whole weekend, retreating from the routine of daily life and embracing God, nature and community in new ways. We will gather at Redwood Glen, 90 miles from Oakland, to explore Scripture in community, tend to the needs of our souls, rest, play and simply be. There will be learning tracks for all ages, as well as intergenerational activities, and a campfire with s’mores!
Mission Trip to New Orleans (July 30-August 5) – Want to help your neighbor? Befriend someone who has known struggle? Learn a few things about the transformative power of God, hope and hard work? Then I encourage you to consider spending a week in New Orleans, worshiping, working and walking with residents of the Lower 9th Ward who have a powerful faith and a profound story to share.
In both big ways and little, opportunities to grow in your faith abound in these major summer activities. I encourage you to consider participating in one or more of them, as you are able.
Peace,
Allison
