Midweek Message
August 29, 2017
Dear LABC,
I am sending an abbreviated Midweek Message this week. I am grateful to be home after a quick trip to Seattle for a meeting of the Executive Minister Search Committee of the Evergreen Baptist Association and want to get something our before the day gets away.
In addition to the regular activities of the week I want to make sure you know that:
- The funeral for Lucille Riggins, Myra’s mom, will be this Friday, September 1, at 11:00 at New Hope Baptist Church, 892 36th Street in West Oakland.
- Our Sanctuary Working Group is leading at the West County Detention Facility, 5555 Giant Highway in Richmond this Saturday at 11:00.
- If you would like to contribute to Hurricane Harvey relief for the residents of Southeast Texas you can write a check to LABC marked Hurricane Relief and we will send it through One Great Hour of Sharing to people and programs connected to local congregations in the area.
- This Sunday in worship we will celebrate Pride Sunday/Association of Welcoming And Affirming Baptists Sunday. An important part of our witness at Lakeshore is a clear and intentional welcome to the LGBTQ community.

Among those requesting prayer are Anthony and Leslyn Marshall, Myra Saxton, Karen Hopkins, Larry Sims, Phil and Gloria Meads, Marie Johnson, Michael Hammer, Cathy Leaks, Kay Baxter, Sharon Gordon, Jim Robinson, Cecil White and Ruben Artery, the family of Katrina Lau, Dean LeAnn Flesher, Mary Anderson and Jesse Lucas (for the people of Houston).
