Jim Hopkins

August 15, 2011

Karen, Ethan and I leave on Thursday to get E set up at Ottawa University (Kansas).  Karen and I will return to Oakland on Sunday afternoon.  Classes at Ottawa begin on Monday. Thank you for your interest, support and continued prayers.
Allison will preach this coming Sunday.  Paige Bence will be our soloist.  Jim Armstrong will be our guest organist. Allison’s sermon title is our Christian Formation theme for the the year – “Let Us Work For the Good of All.” The theme is taken from Galatians 6:10, I Corinthians 10:24 and Deuteronomy 22:3.
As expected our Church Retreat was a splendid event. Thanks to all who planned, participated and prayed. My main take aways were the simple joy of being with our beautiful community in a beautiful setting and Mark Yaconelli’s definition of the Christian faith as a “set of gifts and practices that set us free.”
