August 1, 2017
Dear LABC,
One of the weekly tasks I enjoy is changing the sign in the churchyard. Knowing that I won’t be around to do it for a few Mondays (taking a little vacation beginning on August 4) the message I put up today reads “May You Find Summer.” It represents my hope, even my prayer, that as July ends and August begins all of us, even if for only a day, will find a slower pace, a beautiful place and rest from the race.
Having said the above, thirteen our of number: Allison, Paul, Carla, Julia, Jackie, Rose, Jasmine, Mason, Peggy, Sabina, Karen and Betty are working hard in New Orleans as part of “Till The Work Is Done,” a mission project of the American Baptist Home Mission Societies. Please hold them, and those they minister to and with, in prayer. They return home on Saturday.
Sunday also brought invitations to join in our November Mission Trip to Cuba (see Jesse Lucas), Mentoring at Skyline High School (see Jesus Portillo) and our Sanctuary Witness (See Hallie Randel or Alice Butler)
This Sunday, a Communion Sunday, is Disability Awareness Sunday. Sydney Webster will be our preacher. She invites individuals and families who live with mental health concerns to join in a conversation during the Forum time following worship.
