Sharing Together
14Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. 15And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in the one body. And be thankful. 16Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly; teach and admonish one another in all wisdom; and with gratitude in your hearts sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs to God.
Colossians 3:14-16, NRSV
All Church Family Retreat – August 6-8 – Redwood Glen
The time and opportunity for us to meet together again in person slowly approach-es. This month my focus is on the upcoming events that will mark our coming together again. My prayer request in this regard is always this: that infection rates continue to go down, vaccines will continue to be made available and accessible, people will continue to practice safety protocols, and we do not despair.
With that being said, the event that includes all of the church is the all church retreat. Redwood Glen is receiving groups so we will be returning to that familiar and beautiful setting. At this writing we are considering scripture and theme for the retreat. In our deliberations, we saw this as a time for each of us, together, to consider the past year; to remember, heal, celebrate, and a word that comes from our retreat speaker, Dr. Terri Brenneman, resilience. Many of us became acquainted with Terri at the 2019 retreat when Dr. James Brenneman was our speaker. It was Terri who led us in many of the exercises associated with our meeting together. Since then she has visited LABC and recently presented to the “Forever Young” gathering.
Johanna Wilkinson has agreed to work with our children. Johanna, a long-time member of Lakeshore has worked with our children and young people on many occasions, including participating in the youth group meetings. She not only graciously, but enthusiastically agreed to take this part in the church retreat.

“When we are called to part,/it gives us inward pain;/but we shall still be joined in heart,/and hope to meet again.” (From the song, “Blest Be the Tie that Binds,” John Fawcett)
