Dear Lakeshore,
Thanks again to all who played a role in the joyous celebration of our 25th anniversary as pastor and congregation and the dedication of the Living Tree sculpture. Taking the liberty of speaking for Karen, Aaron, Kristen, Ethan, David, Teresa, Dash and Henry, your expressions of caring touched, and touch, our hearts and souls.
This Sunday Pastor Tanner will preach. Her sermon will be “What Communion Means To Me.” This will be the first in a series, both ongoing and occasional (not every first Sunday), of first Sunday sermons by members of our community on the meaning they find in the observance of the Lord’s Supper.
On Sunday afternoon Kehila Synagogue is inviting members of LABC, as well as members of several other OCO congregations, to join them at Imani Community Church,3300 MacArthur Blvd. from 3:00-5:30 for a viewing and discussion of the Robert Reich film “Inequality for All.”

Postscript
As a basketball fan and as a citizen of these United States I believe NBA Commissioner Adam Silver is to be commended for the strong action he took against Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling for his racist comments. The myth that some groups of people exist only to entertain and enrich others needs to be countered as strongly as possible. Commissioner Silver’s actions do just that.
